Experience four-season cottaging at the Fall Cottage Life Show

Toronto:  September 14, 2015.  Whether you visit your cottage year round, or only get there during the warmer months, now is the time to start planning next year’s big projects for your retreat.

The Fall Cottage Life Show, featuring more than 200 exhibitors, happens October 23-25, 2015, at The International Centre. If you want to be ready for next spring, now is the time to start researching your new deck, ordering a new dock, planning a renovation, finalizing the budget, or doing a teardown and starting from scratch.

The show is dedicated to cottage and country home renovations, construction, building products, design, and architectural services along with the fun stuff like boats, docks, water toys, arts and decor, food and drink, furnishings for indoors and out, and finding those holiday or special gifts. Anyone who owns or dreams of owning a cottage, camp, chalet, country home, or rural retreat, or those who just like to relax in their own backyard, are welcome to come and spend some time at our cottage at the Fall Cottage Life Show.

In addition to more than 200 exhibitors who are all experts in their fields, there are free seminars on the Cottage Life Main Stage including real estate topics, legal issues, DIY and reno advice.

Meet the stars of Cottage Life television! Rob Serediuk, host of What’s For Sale? will give advice to wannabe cottagers looking to buy a piece of paradise. The host of Reno My Reno, Dave Depencier will share some dramatic before and after cottage renos, wrapped up with great advice for anyone looking to take on their own project. And Marty & Bam Bam, the affable duo from antique picking show Backroad Bounty will entertain you with tales from the trails. They just finished filming season 2 exploring the flea markets, antique barns, and junkyards of Ontario’s cottage country.

The Dock Party is where you can sample craft beers, wines, cider, and spirits, with
ticket sales benefitting the Cottage Dreams Cancer Recovery Initiative. (http://www.cottagedreams.ca/about/ It’s a great way to raise funds for this
important charity, while raising a glass with friends.

Step inside the model cottage built by Canada Builds. This two-bedroom, two-bathroom charmer is designed for easy vacation living. Styled by Lakeshore Designs, all the d̩cor you will see is available from the show exhibitors Рsee it, like it, buy it!

The Great Outdoors, sponsored by Subaru, features the famous Haliburton Forest Sled Dogs demonstrating what it’s like to experience a winter trail ride. The folks at Wild Ontario will bring their fine-feathered friends including a barn owl, a falcon, and other birds of prey. And the educators from Scales Nature Park will bring their wet and scaly friends with turtles and snakes on display. Get up close and ask questions about how these animals thrive and survive our cold Ontario winters.

Everybody’s favourite handyman, Wayne Lennox will be building a practical little outbuilding that could be used for a shed or a sleeping cabin. Store your tools there, or your in-laws - you decide! The Cottage Workshop is sponsored by Timber Mart.

New to the show, the Makeful Market is an expo of cottage handcrafters and artisans who produce everything from ironwork, reclaimed barnboard art, wood carvings, handmade food, pottery, bespoke kitchen and house wares, and amazing gifts for any cottager. The Makeful Market celebrates the launch of Makeful, a new lifestyle specialty channel celebrating the maker community and the creation of one-of-a-kind, handmade goods. Featuring passionate, entertaining makers who share their ideas and provide inspiration, Makeful’s programming combines food, design, style and DIY series. Makeful also unites craft enthusiasts and provides opportunities to learn new skills through its digital and social platforms. BeMakeful.com
