Stratford, ON (July 28, 2014)  The award-winning, high-energy, Celtic fusion ensemble Rant Maggie Rant is delighted to be performing for the first time at the 2014 Goderich Celtic Roots Festival, one of Canada’s premier Celtic festivals. Now in its 22nd year, the festival takes place August 8-10, 2014 at Lion’s Harbour Park at Port of Goderich, a community steeped in historic charm and natural beauty on the shore of Lake Huron.

On August 8 at 6:45 pm, Rant Maggie Rant will take to Main Stage I to deliver a set of their signature sound, along with an evening line-up that also includes Grainne Hambly and William Jackson (Ireland/Scotland), PEI’s Teresa Doyle, Nova Scotia’s Andrea Beaton, followed by Quebec’s Raz de Maree, The Kruger Brothers (U.S.A) and capped off by Liz Carroll (U.S.A.).

On August 9, Rant Maggie Rant kicks off the afternoon line-up of talent at 12:00 pm on Main Stage II, followed by Nova Scotia’s Cassie & Maggie MacDonald, Quebec’s Raz de Maree, Liz Carroll (U.S.A.), Nua who hail from Toronto, as well as Nova Scotia’s Andrea Beaton, The Kruger Brothers (U.S.A) and Joy Dunlop (Scotland).

A joyful explosion of sound, Rant Maggie Rant is loved by traditionalists, who enjoy their time-honoured approach and style, while listeners of other musical genres are drawn to the band's fusion of punchy roots/blues/rock guitar and the syncopated World influences of hand drumming spiced with Latin, Middle Eastern and African rhythms.

Based in Stratford, Ontario, Rant Maggie Rant showcases the talents of Lindsay Schindler (fiddle, background vocals), Glen Dias (lead vocals, recorders, percussion) and Barry James Payne (guitars, harmonica, background vocals) with special guests. Biographical information at: www.rantmaggierant.com. Joining them at the festival will be London-based honorary “ranters” Rob Larose (drums, percussion), Steve Clark (bass) and Toronto’s Daev Clysdale (Irish whistle, Irish flute and accordion).

Rant Maggie Rant took home hardware at the 2013 Jack Richardson Music Awards gala in April 2013. The band received a Jack Richardson Music Award in the Traditional Folk/Roots category. The awards recognize musical excellence in the City of London, Ontario, where all of the members of the band have London connections, and continue to contribute to the vibrant music scene in that city.

The band has covered a lot of ground over the last two years performing throughout Newfoundland, on Canada’s west coast, in Quebec and south of the border in Chicago, Illinois, as well as Saline, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, Michigan and many venues in between. Earlier this year the band performed in Sarnia and Port Huron, Michigan with the International Symphony Orchestra, Ottawa’s National Arts Centre and their fourth annual and perennially sold out St. Patrick’s Celebration show at Toronto's prestigious folk-roots venue Hugh's Room, where their latest CD was recorded and most recently at London’s Home County Music & Arts Festival. Upcoming concerts include the esteemed Windsor Symphony Orchestra on November 15-16, 2014.

The band has three CDs to their credit: self-titled (2013), Frost & Fire: A Celtic Christmas Celebration (2011) and World’s Edge (2009).
