Majestic Monarchs take flight at Niagara Parks

 Niagara Falls, ON – On Saturday, September 7, the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory will host a one day educational event for visitors to learn about the lifecycle of the Monarch Butterfly and its incredible migratory journey.

As part of this educational program, participants will be able to see caterpillars feed, see chrysalis or pupae and possibly witness a Monarch emergence. The program also includes Monarch tagging demonstrations, followed by their release into the gardens to begin the great migration to Mexico.

The educational exhibit will be available throughout the day, beginning at 10 a.m., with the last visitors entering the conservatory at 5:30 p.m. Program topics will include:

·         The Monarch lifecycle - Monarchs will be on display for participants to observe the various stages of development;
·         Exploration of the Monarch’s incredible migration;
·         Monarch Butterfly tagging demonstrations;
·         Learn more about how you can help the Monarch survive

The fully accessible Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory is located on the grounds of the world-renowned Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens & School of Horticulture, a short drive north of the Falls at 2565 Niagara Parkway. The exhibit is included with admission: $13.50 for adults (ages 13+), $8.80 for children (6 - 12 years), and children five and under are admitted FREE (prices in Cdn. plus tax). Parking is available on-site.
