East Coast flavour is high on the menu for the Redpath Waterfront Festival Toronto

News Release

The East Coast is coming to Toronto. If  you enjoy authentic gourmet seafood or additive-free treats, hand-crafted retail items, toe-tapping music, a scenic coastal stay-in-Canada vacation, or just
smiling and relaxing for a couple of hours, Saltscapes Toronto celebrates the best of Nova Scotia

and New Brunswick, June 21-24 at HTO Park West, 339 Queen’s Quay West, Toronto.

“Saltscapes magazine celebrates Atlantic Canadian culture, tradition and history. It promotes living simply,” says Linda Gourlay, chief organizer of the event and co-publisher of Saltscapes magazine.

The HTO Park West will resonate with the unmistakable sound of East Coast Acadian and Celtic music, with award-winning singer/songwriter Babette Hayward, 2011 winner of Music New Brunswick Pop Recording of the Year and female Songwriter of the Year; the Hupman Brothers [Ryan and Scott] who have
released four albums and won the 2010 East Coast Music Awards (ECMA) for Blues Recording of the year; and Reeny Smith and Band, who won the 2011 Up and Coming Award at the African Nova Scotian Music Awards.

The mix of attractions will include chefs such as Kilted-Chef Alain Bosse, who
will teach visitors how to prepare East Coast seafood; Chris Aerni, owner/ operator
of Rossmount Inn, St. Andrews, NB, who has a reputation for creative, market fresh
cuisine using local ingredients; and Martin Ruiz Salvador, co-owner of Fleur de Sel,
Lunenburg, NS, who will demonstrate his impeccable French cooking skills. Classic
East Coast food will be available for sale and sample. And, visitors will be able to
take home recipes to try in their own kitchens.

Experience authentic dory-building, take a high tech “augmented reality” coastal
drive, and see some pretty intricate sand sculptures, historical animators, and of
course, face painting for the kids.

Visitors have a chance to win a 12-day “Come East” coastal driving vacation in
New Brunswick and Nova Scotia with accommodation provided and $3,000 of
fuel in a 2013 Subaru Legacy, provided for the trip. The winner gets to keep the
vehicle, tax included.

Saltscapes will demonstrate the best of East Coast Canada to southern Ontario
residents, right on the shores of Lake Ontario, in Toronto. Some 100 exhibitors,
under canvas, will be right in the middle of HTO Park, during this four-day
admission free event thanks to the partnership of the New Brunswick and Nova
Scotia governments.
